In the past couple weeks, I have been the most pro-active about advertising my freelance writing services than I have ever been. Not just advertising, but reaching out to get new clients. I signed up for Elance, and have placed bids on about 5 projects so far. Two of them are still open, and I am really crossing my fingers for one, as it will be a long term relationship. I plan to review Elance soon on my blog…when I get a better feel for the site and have formed an opinion.
I also decided to post an ad on Craigslist. My husband and I have had great success with selling items on there, so I thought, what the heck? I’d at least give it a shot. I did this on Sunday, and I had someone contact me yesterday…not even a full 24 hours later! I ended up getting him as a new client, and the relationship looks promising.
I dug up a planner I used to school last semester to begin keeping track of my deadlines and such. I was going to make it just for my writing assignments, but I decided to include other activities (school, personal, doctor’s appointments, etc.) so I can be sure to schedule to write extra on one day to make up for not being home on another. I feel keeping this planner (along with the use of 1,000′s of Post It Notes!) will keep me on track.
