My new focus for 2012

Remember those 2012 goals I set last month? Yeah, let’s scratch those. Just before we rang in the new year, I decided to shift my focus just a bit…but it’s a permanent focus, so I don’t feel too bad. Sometimes I can be a bit indecisive, though I normally hate when it overflows into my work. I feel okay about it this time though.

Anyways, about that shift. I mentioned in my last post that I planned to work on PLR and Kindle publishing. I dove into the latter the last week of December, and fell in love. I have decided to make that my main focus in 2012. Because of that, I did something a bit drastic.

I closed Super PLR Content. Even though the idea of selling PLR and is no doubt profitable, my heart wasn’t in it anymore. I was feeling the burn out of writing article and article. With writing short stories and ebooks for the Kindle, however, it’s different and I’m really liking it. It just feels right…more right than any other venture I have taken since starting internet marketing.

I now have more control over my schedule and what I produce for my readers. You have some freedom with writing and selling PLR, but you still need to write what’s hot so that it will sell. Plus, you need to form a good relationship with your customers, emailing them frequently with your specials and new releases. If you are an affiliate, you also need to stay on top of other PLR seller’s deals and discounts so that you can provide with to your readers.

I think all the additional aspects of marketing PLR was what really burned me out. It’s not a TON of extra work (and it still beats working a 9-5 outside the home), but still, I wanted something that was a little less demanding. Kindle publishing is it for me. I don’t have to market my books as hard as I would my PLR…people will find my books because they are on the largest ebook website: Amazon.com.

I still do a bit of marketing here and there for my stories and books, but there’s no mailing list to keep up with, no additional monthly fees cutting into my profit (I’ve been able to start for free…though there could be some things to pay for in the future, if I choose to outsource my covers or promotions), and it’s more than work to me…it’s also fun.

I will still be updating this blog from time to time with updates on my self-publishing and tips to help those that are newer in the internet marketing world. Feel free to email me with any topics you are interested in me covering on the blog…I want to be discussing things my readers are interested in!

Looking Ahead to 2012

This is one of the standard end of the year blog posts where I reflect on the year and set new goals on the year to come. 2011 wasn’t really the best year for me. I tried to cut down on ghostwriting in order to increase my IM interests, but that required me to write for clients even more. I bounced around between too many internet marketing ideas, including PLR, niche sites, Kindle publishing, and product creation.

The result? Too much planning/decision making and not enough action.

So, for 2012, I plan to structure my business differently. I have decided to put all ideas of building niche sites on the back burner. Sure, they are a lucrative business in themselves if you choose the right niches and keywords. However, I just don’t have time to focus on them right now. This will be a future idea when I have other income streams already in place and successful.

My biggest business plan for 2012 is focusing on my PLR store. I have seen success with it, but the problem is, I cannot continue the success because I’m too busy trying to also be successful with other areas. So, making this my main priority is the number 1 goal I have for the new year. I plan to release lots of new packs (may have a monthly goal on how many). I also have a PLR membership site in the works.

I also plan to network with more PLR sellers. It’s nice that you can be friendly with your competition in this type of business, because there is simply no way you can satisfy your entire market. There are way too many niche topics out there that need quality PLR content written. So, I know that networking and promoting each other is a great way to further increase my income. Also, it may bring about partnerships or joint ventures on future projects.

As I continue in my IM journey, I also want to document it more often using this blog. This website has previously been more of a freelance writing portfolio, but as I am making the shift to passive income, I decided to run this site primarily as an internet marketing  blog now. Along with my progress, I will also be sharing tips and advice on what has worked for me in the past.

So, to highlight my goals:

  • Focus on my PLR site, build it up to a $4000+ monthly income
  • Launch a PLR membership site
  • Network with other PLR sellers
  • Nurture my relationship with my PLR list
  • Launch at least one PLR-related WSO every 2 months
  • Update this blog more frequently (at least once per week)

What about you? What are your goals for 2012?

PLR and Adsense Updates

I haven’t written a personal post on what I’ve been doing in my business in a while, so now is the time. Right now, I’m mainly focusing on PLR creation. I jumped into the 30 Day Challenge that Tiffany Dow is holding on her blog. It’s all about filling our PLR stores with more products. Everyday, she blogs about what she’s done, and those participating can comment on their own progress. There will be lots of links for new PLR packs created by all the participants, so be sure to check it out if you are need of some PLR content.

I am currently working on a 15 article pack on an internet marketing topic, which will be the first in that niche on SuperPLRContent.com. Not sure what I will tackle after this pack is completed, but I have a mile long list to keep me going. I really enjoy writing on the dating and relationships niche, but I have a great deal of PLR content already available on that topic, so I don’t know where I’ll go next.

Huge Update

Okay, so I pretty much failed on using my blog to hold myself accountable for my internet marketing ventures. I don’t really like to come online frequently and blog about what I’ve done, didn’t do, should have done, and will do. However, I am in the mood to blog today, so here goes!

I have been steadily working on building up my PLR store, as well as creating new niche sites. I haven’t been meeting the goal of 5 new packs a month, but it’s getting there. I released a Summer PLR WSO last month, and it didn’t do as well as I had hoped. However, I am still getting sales from the Warrior Forum, which is always nice.

BrightHub, another one of my goals, has totally revamped their writing requirements since the Google Panda update. They are now paying more, but their writers now have to almost double the word count of their articles. They haven’t published opportunities for the writers to create new content since April, so I have very little earnings from there since then. They have also taken down/deleted a ton of articles that they say were hit hard with Google’s update, so there goes much chance of my residual income there. I am not focusing on BrightHub as a goal anymore. I would rather focus on my own sites instead.

I have created two new sites recently, but have been slacking on the backlinking. My first Adsense one is ranking fairly well, and last month I make almost $9. Don’t laugh…I know the earnings are miserable, but since I more than doubled what was in my Adsense account since I’ve had that site up and running, I feel pretty good about what I’ve made so far. I need to work on backlinks and also starting up a couple more Adsense sites. It would be great to get 5-7 big sites making me a decent income from Adsense each month.
