Being a freelance writer gives you the independence to work at home and to set your own hours — but just because you are given the luxury doesn’t mean you don’t need to schedule your time wisely!
When I first quit my outside the home job to pursue a freelance writing career, I thought I could literally just write when I wanted. I really thought I could just do a couple hours here and there, and actually make a living.
But then the real world set in…and projects came with deadlines! I quickly realized I had to divide my time up between working and doing whatever else I wanted/needed to do each day. Now that I am attending college, the schedule is up in the air most days, but I am sure to sit down at the computer for at least 3-4 hours each day.
It’s more difficult to have personal clients at the moment due to school, homework, and getting ready for graduation (is it May yet??). I hate having to find all that in with meeting deadlines for writing projects. However, as soon as I throw that cap in the air, I will be going back to a set schedule for freelance writing!
